Ubuntu 13.10 Wifi OK, Can’t connect to internet

After I installed Ubuntu 13.10 on my old Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile laptop I could connect to my Wifi router but not connect to the internet.

The solution was hard to find but easy to fix.

1. Open up System settings and go to Network.

2. Go to wireless and select your Wifi network.

3. Select settings and go to the IPv6 Settings tab and disable IPv6(Method: ignore).

IPv6 settings in Ubuntu 13.10

This works for me. IPv6 is the future but not for this vintage laptop!

Safari can’t connect but ping works

This rather cryptical titel is one of my “note to self” post. Without the help from Google and people posting their trouble i would’nt find the solution to my OS X Lion 10.7.5 network trouble.

My problem was that i could’nt connect to internet with Safari or Google Chrome. With Networkutility i could do ping, netstat. RDP to my Windows 7 box worked. So what was the problem? I don’t know but, I followed the this thread and found the answer.

What I did was as follows:
Open: System Preferences>>Network

Marked the Wi-fi and removed it with the – sign and added it again with the + sign.

Simple but strange.
